Round Top Antiques Fair
It’s that time of year again, and we are gearing up for Round Top Antiques Fair!
It is held twice a year, once in the spring (middle of March through 1st weekend in April) and then in the fall (end of October through the 1st weekend in November).
The fair spans over a 15-day period with about 80 venues and over 4,000 dealers on an 11-mile stretch of Hwy 237 in Round Top, Texas with smaller shows in neighboring towns. Shows have staggered openings, some are open the entire fifteen days, some are only open the last week.
Every show is different. Most open by 9:00 am (however some open even earlier) and close around 5:00 pm (or stay open until the last shopper leaves). Some shows have specific hours, particularly the shows with paid entry fees (Big Red Barn and Marburger Farm). www.roundtoptexasantiques.com
Have more questions? We’ve got your answers:
Best time to Come?
While every aspect of the show is unique this author thinks the “Best Time to Come” is the Sunday of the last week of the show. It is when all the shows are open including Marburger Farms, the original Round Top venues and the Big Red Barn. If that doesn’t work in your schedule anytime you come can be so fun!
Looking for the Best Deals?
Coming early before the major vendors will find you some great deals. You may have to walk a lot and hunt a lot but it will be worth it. Also, near the end of the third week of the show, you may find some deals. There will be less selection, however, vendors will be more inclined to strike a deal or negotiate with you to get rid of their inventory. (Note that this is not always the case. Many dealers pack up from one show to go to the next, so are not in a position to give major discounts.)
Looking for Less Chaotic Crowds?
Visit the shows Monday-Thursday and come when the first shows open. During the week and at the beginning of the show, parking is much easier and the crowd is smaller, making it easier to get from one show to another.
What to Wear?
Dress comfortably! Texas weather can be extreme and change overnight, but many days are picture-perfect. Shoe choice and sun coverage are the most important decisions when it comes to staying comfortable while navigating the shows. Wear layers and a light jacket or top to cover your shoulders to avoid sunburn, even if it seems overcast. If the forecast calls for rain be prepared.
Navigating the Shows?
If you stay with us we provide maps to navigate the show to minimized getting stuck in traffic. Many parking areas are located between and behind the shows along SH 237. Most parking is free, but there are places that offer paid parking for a small fee—typically $5. www.antiqueweekend.com
After Hours?
Several shows offer late-night shopping along with live music. Once you are done shopping for the day you can stop and grab some food, coffee or libation. If you are staying with us at StarHill Farms you can come back, put your feet up and reminisce about your day while enjoying the quiet and serenity of the farm!
Can’t Make the Show?
You are in luck because they also have smaller shows throughout the year. Check out the website www.roundtoptexasantiques.com for all the dates. You can also Visit our Shop and do your antique shopping in our 1800’s Collection. We will send it to you.
Have fun!
